Bartosz Kolata

Bartosz Kolata’s work describes the people he sees - and the places in which he finds himself - with a refreshing honesty, but he also succeeds in doing so with humanity and respect. The crane-filled Gdansk skies or the blue sea and sky at Howth, the stylized rendering of reflections in a Ranelagh café window, or friends chatting in a bar – all these works show technical flair. The painting is skilled, the composition and palette original and convincing, and the rendering of light and its effects is accomplished. But the real appeal of the show lies in Kolata’s quirky viewpoint and the strong vein of humour and playfulness running through his work, as he observes and records in his own very personal ways the world in which he lives...
