Making Moves 2005

Lemonstreet Gallery makes strategic move to Dublin’s Docklands.

After almost five years at their location off Grafton Street, Lemonstreet Gallery is on the move. Their new premises is located in a magnificent, award-winning building on City Quay which enables the gallery to broaden its portfolio and exhibit a wider range of artwork. Gallery director Lea O’Flannagain says:

“This is a very exciting development for us, our new riverside location features a spectacular curved glass floor-to-ceiling frontage which, along with the artwork and the café, promises you a unique gallery experience. We will continue to put a strong emphasis on works on paper in our City Quay gallery but it is a fantastic space that invites work in other media.”

Lemonstreet Gallery was established in 2000, specialising in works on paper and representing contemporary Irish and International artists. In the four years since then Lemonstreet has assembled an impressive roster of artists, including Patrick Scott, Kristian Krokfors, Ana Maria Pacheco, Richard Gorman, Cora Cummins, Stephen Vaughan, Juho Karjalainen, Kate Millar and others.

The launch of Lemonstreet Press in 2003 was a significant development, which has led to artworks exclusive to the gallery by, among others, Richard Gorman, Barrie Cooke and Patrick Scott. 2005 promises to be another exciting year for the gallery with new works by Anne Madden, Felim Egan and Charles Tyrrell in the pipeline.

The opening of the City Quay gallery marks a new beginning for lemonstreet. While retaining its particular niche in works on paper, we are responding to requests from both artists and clients by showing other art forms, including painting, sculpture and photography by important Irish and international artists. Central to Lemonstreet’s approach has been the creation of an environment that makes art viewing and collecting more accessible. The introduction of a window seating area in the new gallery, where visitors can sit and enjoy a fresh brew of tea or coffee, will further enhance the gallery experience. Special events, alongside the exhibition program at City Quay, will help to inform art enthusiasts and encourage art as both a secure investment and a life-enhancing experience.
