Miriam Mc Connon
Recent Work
08-05-2008 - 05-06-2008
In Miriam McConnon’s recent paintings there is a delicate beauty which entices the viewer to look more closely at the image. In doing so we see depicted the hanging of the communion dress. Its fragile form is suspended from a single metal noose where it sways above the solid form of the stool below. The backdrop is devoid of form so as not to distract from the dress. The artist has portrayed the communion dress in soft muted colours allowing it to dominate the composition. it represents for the artist innocence, and expresses loss - and emptiness.
