07-10-2008 - 28-10-2008

Born in Newry in 1975, Damian studied Fine and Applied Art at the University of Ulster in Belfast. He lives and works in Newry, and is currently mid-residency at the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Co. Mayo.

The works in this exhibition depict island formations as representations of archetypal landscapes. These heterotopic sites act as points of departure for explorations into the subjective relationship between man and the landscape. Some paintings possess physical cuts, holes and fissures imposed upon the space the subjects occupy. Both aesthetic and conceptual, these marks underscore vulnerability, whilst extending the artist's investigation of formal representational space.
