Stephen Rothschild was born in Dublin.

He studied at the Chelsea School of Art, graduating with an M.A. in Fine Art .

He currently divides his time between his studios in Dublin and Paris.

Stephen Rothschild’s work is influenced by music and silences. The exhibition in Lemonstreet Gallery showcases his latest works which are abstract and tactile, many layered and often rich in colour. These new paintings are now marked by faint scratchings on the richly textured surfaces, not immediately apparent at first sight, which indicate possible interpretations. He tells us that his intention is to convey a stillness increasingly difficult to experience in today’s frenetic world.
